SSC conducts various exams for various specified posts every year. Well, the recruitment of the staff in central government is organized as per the requirement but there are some exams for which regular vacancies are out every year. Some of the major types of SSC exams are SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC MTS, SSC GD, and Miscellaneous.
Types of SSC Exams
SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level)
SSC CGL is the most prestigious exam conducted by the Staff selection commission. This examination is conducted to offer Grade B-level & Grade-Cjobs to aspirants who have completed their graduation. This exam is conducted every year with different numbers of posts as required in different departments.
CBI, Income tax department, and customs departments, are the most popular choices of students who get a job through this examination. This exam is not a one-day exam and the exam is conducted through 2-3 Tiers as per the job requirement. Tier-1 and Tier-2 exams are Computer Based Test (CBT).
When we talk about the syllabus then specified topics of General English, Quantitative aptitude, General Knowledge, Economics and Reasoning are asked in this examination.
Subsequently, there is a Tier-3 Language Proficiency Test in English/Hindi which is descriptive in nature.
Note:- Typing speed of 30 wpm in the English language or a Data Entry Test is also required for most of the jobs offered by this examination.
SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level Exams)
The second most popular examination of SSC is SSC CHSL. This exam is also conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to fulfil the recruitment of candidates in Grade-C posts of central government departments including LDC Junior Assistants, Data Entry Operators etc. Candidates who are willing to apply for this exam should have completed their secondary education.
SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff)
Staff Selection Commission also offers vacancies for aspirants and Multi-tasking staff in various departments. This is one of the most popular one-day examinations conducted by SSC. Lakhs of students appear in this examination and candidates who crack this examination will get the chance to join various departments working under the central government.
SSC GD (General Duty) Constables
SSC GD is also one of the most popular national-level examinations which fulfil vacancies under various forces like BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, CRPF etc. This examination is conducted on a computer basis and the pay scale of the aspirants who got the job through this vacancy lies between Rs.3,00,000-6,00,000 INR per annum.
This exam is famous for having bulk vacancies every year and lakhs of aspirants attempt the examination of SSC GD every year.
Exam Pattern of GD Constables
The Exam pattern of exam of SSC is different from Railways, Banking and other exams. Recently, SSC has configured the exam pattern for SSC CGL and designed it differently. Well, the preparation for most SSC exams is similar. Here, the candidates will have to attempt 80 questions which are divided into 4 different sections of 20 each within an hour.
The questions available in the question paper are from General English/Hindi, General knowledge & awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability and Elementary mathematics. Also, the exam conducted is a Computer based examination. Under this examination, candidates have to score maximum marks to make their place in the cutoff and 0.50 marks of negative marking is also applicable in every type of SSC one-day exam.
Physical Efficient Test (PET)
The physical test is conducted after the examination and under this examination, the candidates will have to complete some tasks as required.
For male candidates
- 5 km. in 24 minutes
For Female Candidates
- 1.6 km. In 8 minutes 30 seconds.
Candidates who clear the Computer based exam and Physical test will get a call for document verification. After the completion of other formalities, the candidate gets the job.
Selection strategy
